What was the highlight of Scenic Hotel Punakaiki
Loved the location and the breakfast.
The hotel location and the rooms were all excellent. The breakfast choices for both "full English" and the "continental buffet" were also excellent, served in the dining room overlooking the sea. The staff were extremely helpful, polite and courteous.
Unfortunately, the restaurant kitchen was closed "for maintenance" on the evening we arrived, so after a long day's driving we had to go out again to have dinner at another location. We thought we could at least enjoy a drink from the bar by the fire after our long day, but were told that the bar cannot be open when the kitchen is closed. It was very disappointing.

What was the highlight of Scenic Hotel Punakaiki
A beautiful night away in the most beautiful scenic spot.
Lovely large room with a huge bed, and a spare single bed. Handy to have a kitchenette. The view of the sea from our room was awesome. And having a balcony was a nice feature. Big bathroom as well. The scenery of the bush surrounding the accommodation was just perfect. We had dinner at the restaurant and walking the entire walkway and through the “tunnel” which was lit up was awesome. I loved it.

Good hotel ask for a room away from the main road
Lovely hotel, bed could have been better. And we were beside the main road so a bit noisy when the big trucks came through in the morning
